Privacy Policy for BlockNet

BlockNet - Internet Control is designed to help you control internet access for applications while keeping your network-control activity on your device.

Last updated: September 10, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to BlockNet - Internet Control ("BlockNet", "we", "our", or "us").

BlockNet is an Android application that allows you to control internet access for applications installed on your device.

This Privacy Policy explains what information BlockNet accesses, how that information is used, and how your information is handled.

🛡️ Privacy-focused design

BlockNet's core internet-control functionality operates locally on your device. BlockNet does not require your web browsing history or the contents of your network traffic to provide app-level internet blocking.

2. Information We Collect

BlockNet is designed to minimize the information needed to provide its core functionality.

📱

Installed App Information

BlockNet accesses information about installed applications so you can select which apps should have their internet access blocked or allowed.

⚙️

Blocking Rules

Your selected apps, blocking durations, schedules, app groups, and network rules may be stored locally on your device.

🔔

Notification Preferences

If enabled, BlockNet uses notifications to provide blocking status and reminders when a temporary block is approaching expiration.

📊

Advertising Information

If advertisements are displayed, advertising providers may collect information as described in their applicable privacy policies.

Information BlockNet Does Not Intentionally Collect

  • The contents of your messages, emails, photos, or personal files.
  • Your passwords or authentication credentials.
  • Your web browsing history.
  • The contents of your network communications.

3. Local Firewall & VPN Service

BlockNet uses Android's VPN service functionality as a local mechanism for controlling network access for applications.

🔒 Local on-device network control

BlockNet routes and filters network traffic locally on your Android device according to the blocking rules you configure.

BlockNet's VPN service is used to implement the application's firewall functionality. It is not intended to operate as a traditional remote VPN service.

Your network traffic is not intentionally routed through a BlockNet-operated remote VPN server.

🛡️
No remote VPN routing

The firewall performs its traffic filtering locally on your device rather than sending your internet traffic to a BlockNet server.

BlockNet does not intentionally inspect, collect, transmit, or store the contents of the network traffic it filters.

4. Permissions

BlockNet requests Android permissions only when they are required to provide a feature.

VPN Service Permission

Used to provide the local firewall functionality and enforce app-level internet blocking rules.

Notification Permission

Used to display blocking status and optional expiration reminders.

Installed Application Information

Used to display applications installed on your device so that you can choose apps to block.

Network Information

BlockNet may access relevant network information required to apply network-specific blocking rules, such as Wi-Fi or mobile-data controls.

You can manage Android permissions through your device's system settings.

5. Notifications

BlockNet may send notifications when you enable notification features.

Notifications may include information such as:

  • An app is currently blocked.
  • A temporary blocking period is approaching its expiration.
  • A blocking rule has changed or expired.

Notifications are generated to provide the functionality you configure and can be managed through Android notification settings.

6. Advertising

BlockNet may display advertisements to support the continued development and availability of the application.

BlockNet may use Google AdMob to display advertisements.

Google and its advertising partners may collect information such as advertising identifiers, device information, approximate location, diagnostics, and information about interactions with advertisements, depending on the applicable configuration, consent choices, and regional requirements.

📢 Advertising privacy

Advertising-related information is processed by the applicable advertising provider under its own privacy policies and terms.

7. Third-Party Services

BlockNet may rely on third-party services to provide certain application functionality, advertising, distribution, or supporting services.

These services may include:

  • Google Play Services
  • Google AdMob

Third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies and applicable terms.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information associated with BlockNet.

BlockNet's core blocking configuration, including selected applications, timers, schedules, and rules, may be stored locally on your Android device.

🔐
Local-first protection

BlockNet's core firewall functionality does not require your network traffic to be sent to a BlockNet remote server.

No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

BlockNet's locally stored settings and blocking configurations generally remain on your device until you modify them, clear the application's data, or uninstall BlockNet.

Uninstalling BlockNet generally removes the application's local data according to Android's standard application behavior.

Information processed by third-party services, including advertising providers, may be retained according to those providers' respective policies.

10. Children's Privacy

BlockNet does not intentionally collect personal information from children in violation of applicable privacy laws.

If you believe that personal information has been provided to us inappropriately, please contact us using the email address provided below.
